DMCA & Copyright Policy

How to report copyrighted material and how we respond to takedown requests.

Last updated July 2026

1. Respecting intellectual property

Bandly respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects the people who use Bandly to do the same. You should only submit writing you created or are otherwise allowed to share. If you believe content on Bandly infringes your copyright, you can ask us to remove it using the process below.

2. Filing a takedown notice

Send a written notice to [email protected]. To be effective, your notice should include:

  1. a physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or someone authorized to act for them;
  2. identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed;
  3. identification of the material on Bandly you want removed, with enough detail (such as a link or exact location) for us to find it;
  4. your name, address, telephone number, and email address;
  5. a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
  6. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

When we receive a valid notice, we will remove or disable access to the material and, where we can, notify the person who posted it.

3. Filing a counter-notice

If you believe your content was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the same address. It should include:

  • your signature;
  • identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before removal;
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification; and
  • your name, address, and phone number, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate courts.

If we receive a valid counter-notice, we may restore the material after a waiting period unless the original complainant pursues a court order, in line with applicable law.

4. Repeat infringers

Bandly will, in appropriate circumstances, suspend or terminate the accounts of people who are found to repeatedly infringe the copyrights of others.
