It is argued that governments should spend more money on public transportation instead of constructing new roads. I completely agree with this idea because it helps protect the environment and solves traffic congestion effectively. First of all, investing in public transport is highly beneficial for the environment. Nowadays, global warming and air pollution are serious problems in many countries, and car exhaust fumes are a major cause. If the government improves subway and bus systems to make them cheaper and more convenient, people will choose to use them instead of driving their own cars. As a result, the number of vehicles on the road will decrease, which will significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Secondly, expanding public transit is a better long-term solution for traffic jams than building new roads. When governments build wider or newer roads, it usually encourages more people to buy cars and drive. This means the new roads will soon be full of traffic again. On the other hand, a single train or subway can carry hundreds of passengers at the same time. This takes many cars off the road, making daily travel much faster and more efficient for everyone in the city. In conclusion, I strongly agree that national budgets should focus more on public transit systems rather than creating new roads. This is because improving public transport reduces environmental damage and provides a more practical solution to heavy traffic.
