Task 1 Academic · bar chart
The bar chart below shows the average number of hours per week that people in four age groups (under 18, 18-30, 31-50, and over 50) spent using three types of media (television, radio, and the internet) in a European country in 2022. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The bar chart gives information about how many hours per week four age groups spent on three kinds of media, which are television, radio and the internet, in a European country in 2022.
Overall, it is clear that the internet was the most popular media for younger people, while older people preferred watching television. Radio was not used much by any group.
Looking at the internet, the under 18 group spent the most time on it, at around 25 hours per week. The 18-30 group was also high with about 22 hours. However, the internet use dropped for the older groups, and people over 50 only used it for 6 hours a week.
Television showed the opposite trend. The over 50 group watched television for about 20 hours, which was the highest for this media. The 31-50 group watched around 15 hours, but the under 18 group watched only 8 hours.
For radio, all the age groups were similar and quite low. The numbers were between 3 and 7 hours per week, and the over 50 group listened a little more than the others.
In conclusion, young people liked the internet more, but old people liked television, and radio was the least popular media for everybody.
