The line graph illustrates the proportion of electricity which was generated from renewable sources in Germany, Spain and the UK from 2000 to 2020. Overall, the percentage rose in all three countries during this period, with Germany showing the most dramatic growth. The UK began at the lowest point, however it overtook Spain by the end. In 2000, Germany produced around 8% of its electricity from renewables, which was slightly higher than Spain at 6%. Germany's figure grew steadily, reached 20% in 2010, and then it climbed more sharply to 45% in 2020. Spain also experienced a rise, but it was more gradual, and its share stood at 30% at the end of the period. The UK had the lowest percentage at the start, at only 3%. The figure remained almost stable until 2008, then it began to increase quickly. By 2015 it had reached 25%, and in 2020 it arrived to 38%, which meant the UK was in the second place among the three countries by the final year.
