Task 1 Letter · formal letter
You recently bought a piece of electronic equipment from a shop, but it stopped working after only a few days. Write a letter to the shop manager. In your letter: - explain what you bought and when - describe the problem with the item - say what you would like the manager to do
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to complain about a product which I bought from your shop last week. I hope you can help me to solve this problem quickly.
On 10th July, I purchased a wireless speaker from your branch in the city centre. The model is the SoundMax 300 and it cost me 89 pounds. The shop assistant told me that it was a very good quality and would last for many years, so I decided to buy it.
Unfortunately, after only three days the speaker stopped working. When I turn it on, a red light appears but there is no sound at all. I tried to charge it and also read the instructions, but nothing changed. I am very disappointed because it was quite expensive and I only used it a few times.
Because of this problem, I would like you to replace the speaker with a new one. If this is not possible, I would prefer to receive a full refund. I have kept my receipt as a proof of purchase.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours faithfully,
Daniel Park
