For a lot of people, an IELTS Writing score isn't about a grade — it's a visa, a nursing licence, a university place, a chance to move a whole family somewhere better. We built Bandlyto make good feedback cheap. The Scholarship is for the people for whom even “cheap” is one bill too many.
Each cycle we give a small number of test-takers free, unlimited access to Bandly for three months — enough time to write, get scored, and actually close the gap. There's no catch and no fine print: if you're chosen, you get the same tool everyone else pays for, at no cost.
Who it's for
We keep eligibility deliberately simple, because the people who need this most rarely have time for a long application. You're a good fit if:
- You're actively preparing for IELTS Writing (Academic or General Training) with a real test date or goal in mind.
- Paying for prep would mean giving up something that matters — rent, groceries, supporting family, or the test fee itself.
- You're ready to put in the hours. Bandly shortens the path to a higher band, but you still have to walk it.
You do not need to prove your income with documents, and you don't need a perfect story. We read every application from a real person, not a scoring formula.
How to apply
Send us a short email — a few honest paragraphs is plenty. Please include:
- Your name and the country you're testing in.
- Your target band, your most recent band if you have one, and roughly when you plan to sit the test.
- Why you're pursuing IELTS — the visa, course, or job behind it.
- A couple of sentences on why a paid plan isn't realistic for you right now.
That's it. There's no form to fill in and nothing to upload. We'd rather read your own words.
What you get
- Three months of unlimited essay and letter checks.
- Full criteria breakdowns, inline mistake highlighting, and targeted feedback — the complete Bandly experience.
- Access to the practice-question bank so you can train under exam conditions.
How we choose
We review applications in small batches every few weeks and reply to everyone, whether it's a yes or a not-right-now. We prioritise people with a clear goal, a genuine need, and the drive to use the tool consistently. If we can't offer you a place this round, you're welcome to write to us again next cycle — reapplying counts in your favour, not against it.
